Today we sit down with Szymon, a Polish tattoo artist known for his distinctive and instantly recognizable style. As a proud ProTeam member of Ink on Sky and Bepanthen Tattoo , Szymon has carved out his own space in the tattoo scene, blending unique aesthetics, and a highly personal approach to his craft.

• Why did you decide to become a tattoo artist? Explain us your career as tattoo artist

I started tattooing after rehab. I bought a cheap tattoo machine and started tattooing myself and then my friends. It helped my stay sober and gave me some peace. What started as a form of therapy and hobby slowly became my profession.

• How did you define your style?

Around 2019 I started drawing simple cats with random stupid text. After time, they evolved and became one character, George. But he’s not cat anymore. He’s still changing, looks different now than 2-3 years ago. I named him after my childhood cat, he was sweet dumb fat boy. It’s been now about 6 years tattooing him almost exclusively.

• Do you make other type of tattoos?

Well, yes and no. My work can be very ignorant or with many details. It can be just an outline or more illustrative. I also do woodcut-inspired, black only or colorful. The style changes a lot, but George is almost always the main character.

• What advice would you give to someone who wants to dedicate themselves to this profession?

Draw a lot, experiment and don’t try too hard to find your style. I think your own style develops naturally when you keep creating but it takes time.

• In your opinion, what will the future of the sector look like in the short and long term?

Probably more AI drawings and tattoos made by robots, sadly.

• What are the biggest differences between the tattoo industry in Poland and other countries of Europe or EEUU for example?

I don’t see a huge difference artistically anymore. Social media has made the tattoo world very international. Europe feels less serious and more open to having fun with tattooing, experimenting and developing new styles, although the difference was much bigger a few years ago. Tattooing in the US still feels more traditional, with more rules and restrictions. But it’s a huge market and I only know my little backyard, so I might be talking bullshit.

• Are there any unusual anecdotes that have happened to you that you’d like to share?

Giraffes have purple tongues

• What is your long-term vision within the tattoo industry and what plans do you have for the future?

I want to keep developing George beyond tattooing. I’m working on comic book, illustrations, physical products and I’d love to build a whole universe around the character.
