The most chosen tattoos and the countries with the most regrets

The trend of getting tattooed continues to rise, and a recent study has examined tattoo preferences and regrets around the world. According to this analysis, name tattoos are the most requested, with more than 2.6 million searches annually on Google. These tattoos often include the name of a loved one, whether a family member, partner or someone deceased, as a token of affection and remembrance.

In second place, we find letter tattoos, which reach about 2.2 million searches between Instagram posts and Google queries. These tattoos are usually simple, often the initial of a name or a special place. Phrases occupy the third position in terms of popularity.

The study also indicates that Japanese is the most searched language for tattoos, with 231,240 searches annually, followed closely by Chinese with 184,800 searches. These languages, written in characters, are valued for their beauty and aesthetics. Arabic is the third most popular language, with 81,600 searches. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Bella Hadid and Angelina Joliehan helped increase the popularity of Arabic tattoos. English and Hindi are also in the top 10 most searched languages.

Most Requested Celebrity Tattoos

Worldwide, Ariana Grande's tattoos are the most searched for on the internet, with more than 1.3 million searches annually. The pop star has more than 50 tattoos, including movie quotes and nicknames. Harry Styles and Justin Bieber are also in the top three, with more than 1 million annual searches each. Other celebrities with popular tattoos include Cara Delevingne, Rihanna and Ben Affleck.

In addition, many of these celebrities opt for tattoos in foreign languages. For example, Selena Gomez and Rihanna.

In Argentina, Lionel Messi is a favorite among tattoo fans. With the fever of the last World Cup, the most popular designs include Messi kissing the cup, the world cup, the three stars, the jersey and iconic phrases of the Qatar 2022 World Cup such as "What are you looking at, bobo?", "Andá pa allá", "Argentina Campeón", and "Elijo creer". In the political arena, President Javier Milei has been an inspiration for some of his followers, who have tattooed his face and signature.

Argentina stands out as one of the countries with the highest number of tattooed people, ranking fifth in the world with approximately 43% of the population with at least one tattoo. Topping the list are Italy with 48%, Sweden with 47%, the United States with 46% and Australia with 43%.

The Countries That Regret Their Tattoos the Most

Despite the popularity of tattoos, not everyone is satisfied with their choices. Approximately 72% of people worldwide have no regrets about their tattoos, but there is a significant percentage who seek to correct or remove their tattoos. The United States leads this group with more than one million annual searches related to tattoo removal. Brazil and the United Kingdom rank second and third, with 275,040 and 217,200 searches, respectively.

In short, tattoos remain a popular form of self-expression around the world. However, there are also many people who reconsider their choices, seeking to modify or remove their tattoos.
