1. Removing the film too soon (or leaving it on too long)
One of the most common mistakes: getting home and taking off your second skin in total anxiety mode. On the other hand, there are those who leave it on all day thinking that “better covered, better protected”.
Correct:
Follow your tattooist's instructions. It is generally recommended to remove the film 2 to 4 hours later, wash the area well with warm water and neutral soap, and let it breathe or cover it with a new film if necessary.
2. Not washing well (or not washing at all)
Some people think that “not touching it is the best thing to do”. But beware, plasma, leftover ink and sweat can create a perfect environment for bacteria.
Correct:
Gently wash your tattoo 2 or 3 times a day for the first few days. Use a neutral cleansing gel such as Bepanthol® Tattoo Cleansing Gel, pH neutral; no perfumes or alcohol. Pat dry with a clean paper towel, no rubbing.

3. Using the wrong creams or not moisturizing at all
Some people think that any cream will do. Wrong. There are also those who let it peel off, as if it were a sunburn. Another mistake.
Correct:
Use a specific tattoo ointment such as Bepanthol® Tattoo which is gentle, helps regenerate the skin and is not overly greasy. Apply thin layers, 2 or 3 times a day, and the difference in how the skin heals is real.
Avoid: vaseline, creams with fragrance or alcohol, or weird home remedies like aloe with honey and coconut oil.
4. Scratching or picking scabs
Yes, it itches. It's horrible. But don't scratch, let alone pick off scabs or dead skin. You can pick up ink and leave permanent marks.
Correct:
Moisturize well and if the itching is intense, you can give gentle touches with the palm of your hand or apply indirect cold.

5. Exposing it to sun or water too soon
Beach after the tattoo? Bad idea. Just like swimming pools or saunas.
Correct:
No direct sun, salt or chlorinated water for at least 2 weeks. And when cured, always use sunscreen. Bepanthol Tattoo Sunscreen SPF 50 protects and keeps colors vivid. Tattoos also age, and the sun is their worst enemy.
6. Wearing tight or poorly breathable clothing
Avoid clothing that rubs or chokes your tattoo. Constant friction can irritate the area, move the ink or prevent new layers of skin from forming properly.
Correct:
Loose, cotton clothing, and if you can, leave the area uncovered when you are at home.
